What the readers don't know is that these dogs stand almost shoulder high to me (I'm 5'2") and
nearly outweigh me. So these are not light threats.

This is soooo good. My nearest neighbor is about half a mile away so I don't have that problem. But I don't have anyone to visit 'over the fence with', either. I like Wilt's suggestion. Will that work? If not, spit in each hand, say a proper voodoo prayer, shake your hands toward her house, just a little, as you pass by. (No, I don't have the slightest idea what I'm talking about.)

And, if we're into recommending movies - The Blind Side is a feel-good, if somewhat implausible, story with Sandra Bullock in impossibly tight clothes--no suburban mom is going to dress like that. . . at least I didn't.

As for the laundry - you need a little winch (not a wench - although a maid might be nice) off your upstairs porch to lower and raise laundry in a basket . . .

But yes, hard to see the have nots, the woman with six ill-clad kids, the old person inching down the street with a walker, the angry kid, all the people to whom $25 would make a big difference - or not. Here in Hawaii we have a lot of homelessness, poverty and stupidity
