Crispus, I can almost hear this as a fingering on a piano, trying to find just that combination of notes around middle C. Nicely explored with good variations!

I always felt the imagination and belief on the Big Island made her real there. Maybe not here, but yes, there you would stop, just in case.

I could identify with this one, 'Ilima... I always pack at the last minute... I've never known why, but I do.... and yes, the snug outfit is a bummer, but I suspect you could go in old jeans and no one would care!

LOL, this is something I will try... though I have used the under the pillow technique in the past for other things I was trying to bring to me, I never considered it for poetry. Hmmmmm.

But I do maintain a "poem idea" file that has just an image, a phrase, a few words and I periodically go there to look and realize I have to delete some... they are written without me ever remembering
...

So neat to see the details of your interaction with this beloved child. I guess that's how we maintain the thread from infancy to senility... listening to, playing with children!

Thanks for this detailed, imaginative description, 'Ilima. I know I flew over the Big Island a number of times, but I couldn't rouse an image to compete with this delightful one.
