I. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The reason this poetry workshop exists is to promote
the perfecting of an evolving poem posted here. To do
this requires poets to post here, who trust us to provide
excellence in objective critique. To accomplish this we will
[a] invite published poets to give critique on the poetry of
others. and will provide those who give critique
protection from any who might take issue with such critique.
[b} promote an enjoyable community in which to post poetry
and interact with other poets and friends.
II. BLUELINE GENERAL RULES OF CONDUCT
[a] Be Friendly
Nobody likes a grouch, don't be one.
[b] Be Polite
You are a guest, act like one. Privately, by email, report those
who aren't. Don't confront the rude or rowdy.
[c] Never, ever, take issue with those who give critique. Email
admin of suspected abuse.
[d] Don't explain/expand on what your poem meant, after critique,
unless invited by the critique giver, and then do it off thread.
[e] Always, express thanks for the time given in your critique.
[f.] KEEP email address updated. When you change your email
address, remember to UPDATE YOUR PROFILE at Blueline. We
will be sending an email at least once a month to all Blueline
members. Memberships with an undeliverable addy will be dropped.
[g] Free Speech Issues
No member may claim a right to give expression to anything
he likes. For example, posters are forbidden to take issue with
comments given in critique. Other examples are hate speech,
character assassignation, sexually harassing commentary,
religious/racial slurs and the like.
IOW, say anything you would if invited into the home of a valued associate.
[h] BAN
In the past Blueline has had to ban some members. At the new
site no one is on the ban list. Past infractions involved repeated
interpersonal behavior conflicts. Let's avoid these.
[i.] Posting of printed excerps
Limit posting pre-printed material to the Discussion Forum in
keeping with its guidelines.
III. ADDITIONAL FORUM SPECIFIC RULES
[a] The Perfect Day 4 Poetry Forum
(1) Comment on as many poems by fellow PD4P poets as possible.
(2) We are not looking for crits here. The idea is to encourage each other to write. We should realize it is not easy to write a poem every day and if we do, we are achievers.
So a pat on the back and keep it up is what is most needed.
(3) As with any forum, it is a matter of give and take, here.
Give and you shall receive, as the good book says.
[c] The Poetry Workshop
1) Read guidelines IN FULL. A post confirms,
"I have read the guidelines, and will comply".
2) A critique of ONE other poem per post.
3) A MINIMUM critique should encompass:
....(a) suggestion for the poem; plus
....(b) a note re: the title working/not working, if appropriate; and/or
....(c) a comment about poem length/line breaks; and/or
....(d) pointing out typos/msp/punctuation etc; and finally
....(e) encouragement for the poet. Line by line critique is not expected.
4) Revisions: Edit significant revisions beneath the original poem, in the original thread and modify the thread header to say "TITLE......, Rev #....."
5) Helpful commentary and conversation between poets on the poem is encouraged. Always voice appreciation for the time and effort of the one giving the critique.
Stifle displeasure.
6) ZERO tolerance for attacks/flames of poets/critiques.
Violations result in deletion of your work.
7) Don't make policing necessary,
....this is our house, let's work together --
....return crits, reply with thanks,
....communicate and all will be well.
[d] The Haiku Forum
[e.] The Challenges Forum
[f] The Discussion Forum
[g] The IBPC Forum

W/O these three things, a poem does not go to IBPC.
3) The NOMINEE is responsible to make certain the Blueline IBPC Forum Director (Sue) has all three, BEFORE voting takes place. If unavailable, the poem will not remain in the voting thread.
