CXXXVI.16. transformation

Postby allenitz » Thu Oct 12, 2017 8:45 am

thin –
skinny and angular
to the point
it’s uncomfortable to see her
because it looks like it must be
so uncomfortable to
be her…

broad forehead,
chin, fingers
like spider legs,
never quite clean

she dyed her hair blond
last night

waiting all day
for someone to notice,
her transformation

no one has
no one will new poems and new poets every week

Ouch! Tough to see someone thin as you describe, Allen, with other traits that, to me, indicate either an illness or a struggle with eating

she dyed her hair blond
last night

a telling turn here, one the feels metaphoric for me of the struggle between being noticed and hiding inside a very uncomfortable shell

I speak from knowing women who fit this poem.

well done

Wow, this has so many levels from the observation to the human need to be noticed to the equally human desire to not notice odd individuals.
