CXXXVIII.02. when pigs fly

Postby allenitz » Tue Nov 28, 2017 8:53 am

I dreamed last night,
an elaboration on a very old memory

the narrative logic,
the specificity of detail,
it was like being
there…

only when I woke
did I realize the memory
in my dream was just another dream
and only in the light of day,
as the sleeping brain's suspension of disbelief faded,
did the utter impossibility
of both the narrative and the specificity
of detail become obvious…

and thinking now
of the willing suspension of disbelief
and how it so clearly the disease of our time,
the facts as they are presented by many
to many, so true to a creative narrative of disorder and hate,
lies told well,
false facts, clear and specific
and thus, for so many, true and believable

sleeping millions, masterfully manipulated
so that in their dreams pigs can and every day do
so clearly fly

You make a good point.

and thinking now
of the willing suspension of disbelief
and how it so clearly the disease of our time,

We're all too willing to let go of what we know is reality to believe a fantasy we'd like to be true.

A great point. Hoping for some sanity, but even flying pigs likely won't provide that respite.

I'm nodding and re-reading and re-reading this stanza, Allen -- the clarity of it as regards dreams

then to continue on to the "real" version -- life as a dream (or nightmare)

and thinking now
of the willing suspension of disbelief
and how it so clearly the disease of our time,

Belief suspended for the adventure of the dream when asleep -- a good thing
but in real life, not so good and yet when we take a look around, it's happening everywhere
