LXII-1 Sixty-three

Postby Bill_Back » Thu Nov 30, 2017 11:50 am

“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”
― Barry M. Goldwater

Sixty-three
By Bill Backstrom

Huzzah and all that
I’m sixty-three today
And for the next year too, I guess,
If one wants to get technical

Funny, I don’t feel a day over
Ancient
Why do old wizards, like Gandalf,
look distinguished?

I feel more like the old guys in a comedy
Sight getting worse, memory no longer super-sharp
Watching more where I walk on steps
That sort of thing

At least with global warming
Nobody is going to put me on an ice floe
And push me out to sea
<<>>

Never-mind the above, I actually feel pretty good today. :D

Happy birthday, Bill -- I still remember noting those early sixties --- geez, where did they go???

indeed -- and some of the actors and actresses (being as they're mostly who gets photos out for me to view) who seem at age 70 in prime shape of some folks at 50

I still contend, the outside is just our well-worn jacket and it is what's inside (attitude mostly) that speaks to our place in life

AND onward to a new round of 30 you are!! :cool1: :groupwave:

Missed noticing your #30 -- but everyone missed mine too
