Not a Good Day

Not a good day for me...

the Republicans pass a tax bill
to help the rich get richer
and the Yankees
don't choose Bam Bam Muelins
as their new manager.

I have nothing against the Yankee's choice,
nor do I care about the rich,
one way or the other.

But it would have been fun
if a guy nicknamed Bam Bam
managed the stately Yanks
and it would have been nice
for those of us without private jets
to believe people in power cared.

hoping they lose a vote or three in the reconciliation process, but not counting on it.

the only reason for me to stay in the country, besides being too old to leave, is to watch the cell doors closing on at least a few of the sonsabitches.

contrasts -- the lighter side of life and the shadows of reality

so. many words flow -- disgusted, dumbfounded, beyond shocked--stupefied

Not only is this a "railroaded" stamp of a big boot on the working folks, on folks without private jets and the bother of trying to sell a million dollar mansion -- but also it is a scribbled on a napkin, pieced together set of promises just to get agreement, without care or concern for long-term effects (these last being anything beyond the nose on their faces)

The poem does well to sing this song -- the contrast is that many/most folks just want to enjoy basic pastimes, live a basic, enjoyed life BUT the Republicans seem bent on making sure more and more folks struggle to survive.

Sure would be smarter to make the road to higher income easier for the masses -- just think of the tax boost if those now earning less than 50,000 began to earn more than 100,000!

Yes, well to hear the GOP Senators (I swear it is what they said on tape) the rich invest their money and so need more if it, but the poor "spend all their money on booze and women and movies". (Sen Chuck Grassley of Iowa)

Then of course we have Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah speaking on why the tax cut bill (which gladly gives billionaires and millionaires almost 1.4 trillion dollars) doesn't include funding for the Children's Health Care Program which expired two months ago. "The Government doesn't have money to fund programs like this."
