There are many ways to write a cinquain but the most common form that has derived is syllabic using

2 syllables
4 syllables
6 syllables
8 syllables
2 syllables

the definition of an American Cinquain as a five-line stanza with 2,4,6,8,2 syllables per line, respectively, in any meter
the first line should relate to the first...it should be connected somehow inter-relate perhaps even opposite but it should somehow take you back in someway to the beginning.
